Fishermen is a term for people who work daily to catch fish or new biota that flesh and blood on the bottom, column or surface of the water. The waters that become the place of ruckus of these fishermen can be fresh, brackish or sea water. In developing countries such as in Southeast Asia or in Africa, there are nevertheless many fishermen who use easy equipment in fishing. Fishermen in developed countries usually use unbiased equipment and large vessels equipped afterward innovative technology.
Eidman (1991) divides fishermen into two categories, namely cultivator fishermen and owner fishermen.
